My debut poetry collection is finally out! It’s been a long time coming. One of the most stressful, difficult things I have done, but it’s been my dream to become a writer and have my work published. I’m proud of myself for taking action to make that dream a reality. Your Silence Blossomed Light is one of my most important projects next to my second collection that will be published in the future.
This book is not glamorous.
I started writing it when I was 18 and finished at 23 with a new perspective on romance, dating, sex, and intimacy. Each poem I wrote was a little journal, a small piece of history I experienced. Most of the time I felt very melancholic or sad, angry and rancorous because I was addictively chasing romance. Poetry was my coping mechanism.
This is not a story about attracting “the one” or finally doing something “right” in a relationship. It’s a reflection and expression. It’s turning something I couldn’t articulate into art without limits. It’s letting go of the dirt bags who never had my best interest and experimenting with ones where I couldn’t understand why it didn’t mean we were something more.
It’s naive, it’s cyclical, until we accept the difference in people.
It’s identifying how much we can take and how far we’re willing to go until we actually learn about our own behavior and are ready to give up on something that was never going to bloom in the first place.
The enlightenment we gain from lack of reciprocation. The delusion and artificial reality that speak louder when we’re alone with ourselves— if you would just listen.
